[Ngapartji Updates] Nyuntu Ngali and Namatjira

Hi everyone, some quick news to let you know that /Nyuntu Ngali (You We 
Two)/ premiers this Friday. Set in post-climate change 22nd Century 
Australia, this futuristic love story features drama, dance, video art 
and a musical score played and recorded on musical instruments created 
from old car parts.

The play written by Scott Rankin stars leading actor Trevor Jamieson 
(winner of Best Actor, Sydney Theatre Awards) alongside musical director 
and Ngapartji Ngapartji artist Beth Sometimes and emerging artists, Anne 
Golding, Derek Lynch and Jennifer Wells. A co-production with Windmill 
Theatre, /Nyuntu Ngali/ runs at Adelaide Festival Centre from 25th 
September - 3rd October.

In other news work has just begun on a niche creative community 
development process for Big hART's new /Namatjira/ Project. Linking up 
with Ngurratjuta Art Centre, the project pays tribute to the life and 
contribution of acclaimed watercolour artist and Western Arrernte man, 
Albert Namatjira. Based in Alice Springs, Ngurratjuta Arts Centre 
represents contemporary 3rd generation Western Arrernte watercolour 
artists, many of whom are descendants of Albert Namatjira. Elton Wirri, 
who has worked with /Ngapartji Ngapartji/ for many years, is one of 
those artists who will go on to feature in this new project. He will 
join other Ngurratjuta artists, along with Trevor Jamieson, to bring to 
life this iconic Australian story.
