*Big /h/ART*, *Sydney Festival* and *Company B* are thrilled to announce 
that */Ngapartji Ngapartji/* is coming to Sydney in January 2008. After 
sell-out seasons right across Australia we're now bringing the full 
scale production to the Sydney Festival.

Written and directed by Scott Rankin, this magnificent lament and 
celebration is led by light-footed actor, story-teller and Spinifex man, 
Trevor Jamieson, and performed by an ensemble of Pitjantjatjara elders 
and young people, Japanese and Greek performers. Burt Bacharach, David 
Bowie, Bob Dylan, David Byrne and Credence Clearwater Revival join the 
ensemble through their songs, performed in Pitjantjatjara and English.

For two thousand generations, Trevor's people lived in the Western 
Desert until the Spinifex nation found itself caught up in the Cold War. 
Many were rounded up in cattle trucks and taken away as their 
traditional lands became a test site for British atomic weapons.

Unfolding across the continent and most of the twentieth century, 
/Ngapartji Ngapartji/ is a riveting narrative of family, geo-political 
forces and Australian history.

/Ngapartji Ngapartji/ translates as 'I give you something, you give me 
something', a concept of reciprocity which governs relationships in 
Pitjantjatjara society and culture, and underpins the design of the 
entire /Ngapartji Ngapartji/ project. *

and culture site*, the content for which is constantly being developed 
through a long term community process across the Central Desert. It also
